  1. Messed with "standby list cleaner", caused some odd system behavior

So a few weeks back, in the attempt at smoothing out battlefield 5 gameplay, I came across a recommendation to use the program "intelligent standby list cleaner" since the game is poorly optimized with how it parks stuff in memory apparently. I would just click the exe whenever I loaded the game. I thought "lets speed this process up" and make a system task that starts the exe on windows loading. this was my first time playing with task scheduler. I made a basic task that said to trigger the standby list cleaner on system start, and the very first startup after the fact, it caused some really odd behavior. Probably due to the standby list cleaner interfering with services loading or something. It basically caused my asus aura sync rgb settings for the motherboard/ram to go haywire, change the colors, and no longer save settings.

I was like oh crap, so I just deleted the task I had created and figured all would be well. Nope, the behavior persisted. I could not for the life of me figure it out. So I ended up doing a system restore, and doing a registry clean which I dont usually do. But the behavior persisted. At this point I had a hunch that maybe asus aura wrote some bad settings to the motherboard or something, so I uninstalled aura sync and updated to the newest version.

It saves the color settings now, but upon startup when I use DIFFERENT mice from my normal everyday mouse (been testing many this week) it triggers the usb connect/disconnect sounds like a dozen times before it finally idles on desktop. no odd behaviors other than this.

So now Im curious what devices its connecting/disconnecting at startup and wondering where I can see a log for that? is there a simple program out there that can show me a log of those connects? I know this all seems really arbitrary so hopefully it makes sense. I really hate asus aura software, its so bad. And how could standby list cleaner working cause persistent issues not fixed by a simple restart. Any chance I corrupted something in the registry? System doesn't act dysfunctional in any other way.

I decided to run sfc/scannow and it gave me this result

And here was a snip from the log file, once it started showing errors. Probably just something unreleated I guess right? How would I fix these? Seems related to defender?

Windows 10, odd behavior after restart

    Hi Chris,

This seems to be caused by a corrupt user profile. We suggest that you run the System File Checker. It
is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. To run the tool, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, type Command Prompt or cmd in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run
      as administrator
. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
    • At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      sfc /scannow
You can also run the DISM or System Update Readiness tool. This will help you fix
Windows corruption errors caused by failed installation of Windows updates and service packs. To run the tool, refer to this

    link
    .

Once you're done running the tools, restart the computer and check.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.
