Windows 10: MHT file now displays text instead of web page

I made a change to the file association for MHT from Edge to Firefox. That didn't work, so I reset the association back to EDGE, and then I rebooted my system. Even so, when I tried to open a Google page that was MHT coded, here is what EDGE displayed. Saving a web page as MHT

It seems that saving a web page as an MHT file is no longer possible. Can anybody explain why this capability has been eliminated? And is there some action that a user can take that has the same effect as saving a web page as an MHT file?

 

What App to use to open a .mht file?

I downloaded the MHTViewer from the Windows Store but it won't open my Windows Steps Recorder files.

I would appreciate very much another suggestion that can view a .mht file that has pictures mixed with text.

 

mht file opens only as text - solved

I had saved an mht file along with the partner folder but it only opened as text. After I changed the file extension .mht to .html it opened fine with images etc like a normal web page.
