Windows 10: Mic problems with Realtek Audio, Dell G7 7588

Recently, my laptop (Dell G7 7588) has decided it wants to use the built in mic instead of my Astro A10 mic. I have checked for drivers everywhere, set different audio dsevices as default, unplugged my Asus VG245 monitor, and uninstalled then reinstalled every audio driver, but nothing has worked. My mic has worked with only the 3.5mm jack since I purchased it in November of 2018, but it has only stopped working in the past month. I can still hear audio just fine. I can use the headset mic on my discord app on my phone with no problems. Cannot find any help whatsoever.


(also, i do not have any Realtek HD audio things. I tried installing the HD audio manager through the system itself, but it said it was incompatible.)

Mic issue with Realtek

Hi,

I would suggest you to first check if the MIC is set as the default device. Right click on the volume bar in the notification area and then click on 'recording' devices. In the recording tab, right click in the MIC and click 'Set as Default' and then check. If
the issue still persists, I would suggest run the Audio troubleshooter and check. Press Windows key +X and then click on 'Control panel'. Click on 'Troubleshooting' and then click on the 'Audio troubleshooter' Try these steps and let us know the results.

 

Audio problem on Dell computer

@Stu - thanks for the detailed steps. I followed these last night and audio worked perfectly on my Samsung HDTV monitor. However, this morning audio is gone again, and performing the same steps again (even though the settings were already correct) doesn't
restore audio.

The only audio options that work for me after the upgrade to Windows 10 are: (1) headphones in the analog audio jack, or (2) external speakers connected to the rear panel. Sound from the connected monitor are not really working.

I'm so confused as to who is actually controlling the audio - there are:

• DELL Audio drivers for the Inspiron PC
• Intel Audio drivers
• Realtek Audio drivers
• Microsoft Audio drivers (?)

No wonder there's a problem...seems to me they are fighting for control of the audio device!

 

Headphones and mic Realtek audio manager

heres the problem im using windows 10 and realtek hd audio driver

im using a headset (gaming like) with dedicated mic and the mic is better in the headset then the laptop heres my problem

how do i use the mic in the headset i already use a spiliter and configure the setting the mic works perfectly if i plug it onto my pc alone
how do i use it while the my headset is working and the mic works to?

i already do test on my own trying every option that i know.
