Windows 10: mic problems

Hiya, i wanted to know how to fix a problem with my mic, ive had the mic for about a year and been using it for my xbox and my mics been loud and sound qaulity is amazing but ive recently biult a pc and downloaded discord and when i went to join a voice chat all that came through my mic was a loud constant static sound so, i plugged both the mic jack and the headset jack into the back of my motherboard but it helped to get rid of the static sound for other people but i was really quite even tho all my settings were turned up to max. please could i have a solution for this. Thanks.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

im having the same problem as well, gone through all the steps listed but still no luck unfortunately.

Headset mic not working

This might occur when some of the mic setting got corrupted.

I would suggest you to try running Recording audio troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Select Recording Audio under
  Sound and follow the on screen.
