Windows 10: Microphone not working

Hi,


I've been recently having some problems with my microphone. It used to work but as soon as the recent windows update ( I guess in the month of October or November) The microphone doesn't seem to work as it did before. The microphone doesn't show up in the device manager under audio inputs/outputs when I plug in my earphones( The ones with the jack,(4-pin)),it neither shows up under recording devices. I can hear sound through the earphones but I cant speak through it, the mic doesn't seem to work. I thought it was the fault of the microphone so I plugged it into another laptop and checked but it worked fine.I tried everything, but everything seems to be in vain. I tried troubleshooting, speaking to Cortana, tried setting up microphone and literally everything there is on the internet but nothing seems to work. I even installed the realtek audio drivers but still no change. I've been restarting my PC for like 25 times now. I even tried to reset my PC but still the mic doesn't work. Can someone please help me with this problem.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

• Type “Troubleshooter” in the search box and press Enter.
• Click on ‘View All’ on the top left corner.
• Click on “Recording Audio” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

Microphone suddenly stopped working

My microphone is still not working. I even checked the BIOS as someone had suggested but there is no listing for the microphone in there.
