Windows 10: Microphone Privacy causing Audition issues

Audition was barely running tonight... sampling only every few seconds of audio from my external mic. I found that if I turn OFF "Allow Apps to Access Your Microphone", it works just perfectly. But if I turn ON "Allow Apps to Access Your Microphone" and turn all the apps off, it still causes horrible issues. But if I turn OFF "Allow Apps to Access Your Microphone", apps lose all their audio settings and stop working.


Also, in the system tray the microphone icon keeps flashing on and off while I'm trying to record. When I look at the microphone privacy settings, I see Audition flashing between "In Use" and not in use at the same time as the flashing microphone icon in the tray.

Camera and Microphone Privacy

This issue occurs due to permission issue, driver issue, license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on the computer or if the app is not updated. To give permission to Camera and Microphone app, you may follow
these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Privacy.
• Look for Camera, make sure that “Let apps use my camera” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your camera as well.
• Go back to Privacy and select Microphone, make sure that “Let apps use my microphone” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your microphone as well.

Microphone issues

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

window crashes when i open camera or microphone setting in privacy

Answers to your questions:

• Yes, both are working properly before.
• Yes, i'm logged in as administrator.
• No app can use camera or microphone. All apps said to allow in the privacy setting.

And i can't really solve using the adjustment on privacy setting. 'cause as i've said before, everytime i open camera or microphone setting in privacy, the window crashes everytime.

as for the troubleshooting, it couldn't identify the problem.
