Windows 10: microphone volume level slider resets to 0

Whenever I try to slide the level of the microphone in the properties to be higher than 0 it resets.

This is on a new headset and i've already tried to update the audio drivers and reset my computer.

Headphones' Microphone Volume Under the "Levels" Tab Disappeared

We suggest that you check the following steps on how to raise the mic volume:

• Check the Speaker icon on the system tray. Right click on it and choose "Recording Devices" menu.
  
• This will show Sound window. Go to Recording tab of Sound window, you will notice the microphone which is active that has a green check mark. Right click on the active microphone and select "Properties".
  
• You will now see Microphone Properties window. Go to the
  Levels tab and you will now see Microphone and
  Microphone Boost. You can use the sliders to modify your volume settings. Click
  OK button to save changes.

How to raise microphone volume?

I suggest you check your microphone gain level. To do it, try the steps mentioned below:

Right click on Speaker icon (Volume settings) on the Taskbar

Choose Recording Devices

Click on Microphone and open the Properties

Finally, move the slider to choose the level. It will raise the Microphone and Microphone Boost option.

 

Microphone Volume resets to 0 and mutes microphone Windows 10

Hello everyone,

so here is my problem, I have no model of my computer for it is a custom built, my processor is an I7-6700k 4.00GHz, and my graphics is an AMD r9380. I have had this computer for about 6 months now and as of July 27th 2016 my microphone keeps being reset
to 0 along with my microphone being muted. I have ran through multiple tests of audio and other types drivers as well as reinstalling them, and I have came with the conclusion of everything is up to date. My preferred headset is a Razer Kraken headset with
a built in microphone, however it is not a hardware issue because I have inserted other microphones and have had the same issue with the microphone volume reseting to 0. After running the audio troubleshooter it tells me I need to move the slider back to the
desired volume, which I do but then have it reset back to 0 between 1 minute to a whole hour later. Any help that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.
