Windows 10: Microsoft Account keeps asking for defunct email

Hi, guysI had occasion recently to make some edits to items on my Microsoft Account, and got a pop-up correctly identifying me by user name which is my primary email address on that account, and then saying "We need to verify it's you. Send a code to <email address>". The email address it quoted was an old one which I used long ago on my Account, but which has been long since expunged from that Account both primary and back-up, from my Skype Account, and from everywhere else I thought it could be. It no longer works so perseverance is not an option. Why does it do this?Where do I nee

It is normal to get a code like that for two-step verification.

Windows asking for password on defunct email address

I Have problem on start up. My Windows 10 Laptop asks me to sign in to my old Microsoft account that has a now defunct email address. So iam unable to change my password. How do i get around this?

I've been having issues with message that there's a problem with my microsoft account...and I can't fix ANYTHING!

Under email and accounts under accts it has a defunct microsoft account. When I click on manage I get popup "something went wrong".

The microsoft account below that is fine...a different account.

I've tried lots of stuff and nothing works though I haven't got the "problem with microsoft acct" in awhile. But I'd like to get rid of that defunct account that's listed.
