Windows 10: Microsoft Account Mess

Problem is best described by listing the sequence of events:


1. I go to link for a free download in Microsoft Store.

2. Click "Get" for the item, and am asked for my Microsoft Live ID and password, which I enter correctly.

3. Store now tells me I need to Setup Windows Hello. I click OK, and it asks me to verify a PIN ....?

4. I click "I forgot my PIN" and dialog says: "You can reset it by going to Settings->Accounts->Sign In Options.

5. I go to Settings->Accounts->Sign In Options and choose "Windows Hello PIN".
6. I receive msg: "Sorry, this PIN is not working for your organization's resources. Click here to fix it"
7. I click and get dialog saying "Your organization requires you to setup your work or school account with Windows Hello".
8. I click OK and get "Pick Account" option. There is an account already selected: not my account I am logged in as, but an old work account I no longer have access to. btw, This is Windows 10 Home on a personal, standalone PC.

9. I select the "Use Another Account" and enter my current Windows account email, to get error message "You cannot use a personal account here. Use your work or school account instead"??


What the heck is going on???

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Hello Ken,

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.
