  1. Microsoft Applications Acting Strange

I am using Windows 10. I first noticed something strange happening when I opened calculator one day and, without me doing anything, I see a box with copy and paste with copy highlighted constantly as if I'm trying to copy the numbers in the app. If I hit enter the box closes and instantly opens again with copy highlighted. I can enter numbers into the app, but cannot click or press enter because the copy/paste box is constantly open. I then noticed it happening elsewhere such as when I open photos or open the Microsoft menu and I can see another box appearing and disappearing that has copy/paste in it. This does not happen anywhere except when I open a Microsoft application. While playing games or browsing the web everything is normal. Its almost like if I was holding down a keyboard shortcut for copy or paste, but I've double checked every one of my keys for proper functionality and have found nothing wrong. I'm almost certain this is a keyboard issue, but wanted to know if I was the only one with this issue. I regularly update windows and my keyboard is wired. Any info or suggestions would help, thank you.

    :)

    Windows Explorer acting strangely..

    Thanks for the thought.

Just this morning, right now, I saw it opened on 'quick access' (fortunately not hanging this time) even though I've tried to disable that so I had a sudden thought and went into the view stuff again and sure enough found right at the top a choice of where explorer should open: 'quick access' or 'this pc'.

So I have set it for 'this pc' and maybe that'll be the fix.

and while I was sticking that screenshot in this post I noticed explorer opened with this date grouping thing again, which I hate and I thought I had removed.... I'll try again...

wouldn't it be good if we could get up a sort of list, like a spreadsheet list maybe, listing down the column all the nonstandards features we've either chosen to implement or MS has stuck in there for us or third party software has put in.... with columns across the sheet detailing what it does and how/if it is necessary for this or that or nothing and enabling us to simply put a checkmark in a cell and have the feature disabled?

Maybe even a cell at the top we can check and have the whole sheet go back to basic default?

  3. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

    Explorer Crashes and Acts Strange

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to download the ISO file for Windows 10 from the referred link and perform a repair using the same Installation Media and see if the issue can be resolved.

    Please follow the below steps.

Step 1: Follow the below link to create an ISO image for Windows 10.

    Link: Download Windows 10

This issue could occur due to corrupted Master Boot Record. A boot sector is a part of hard disk or any storage device which contains machine code. A Boot Sector loads the machine code stored in the storage device. Master
    Boot record
is a type of boot sector. Whenever a computer boots, the master Boot record executes. To repair MBR follow below steps.

    • Insert media such as (DVD or flash drive).
    • On the Install now screen, select Repair your computer.
    • Select Troubleshoot, followed by Advanced
      options.
    • From Advanced options, launch a command prompt windows,
      and enter the following command:
    bootrec.exe /fixmbr

    • Once the command is finished, reboot your computer the normal way and check if it helps.
Hope this information helps. Please post us if you need any further assistance with Windows.

    Thank you.
