Microsoft could be bringing back Windows 10 Sets’ key feature

The preview builds of Windows 10 Redstone 5 update included ‘Sets’ feature that allowed users to add tabs to almost every window. Sets feature adds tabs to almost every app’s window and it supported traditional desktop apps too, which means Sets would add tabs to File Explorer as well.

Windows 10 Sets was shortly removed from the preview builds and Microsoft confirmed that Sets feature likely won’t return any time soon.

According to new findings, Microsoft may recreate Windows 10 Sets experience later this year and references to a similar feature were spotted in SDK previews. It appears that the company is also planning to update Chromium-based Microsoft Edge to support Windows 10’s Sets updated user experience.

Sets changes how Alt+Tab works as it allows tabs to appear in Windows 10’s Alt+Tab switcher. According to a new report, up to five recent tabs of Microsoft Edge will now show up in Windows 10’s app switcher (Alt+Tab).

Currently, when you press Alt+Tab, Microsoft windows of opened apps. In a future update, Microsoft will show multiple tabs of Microsoft Edge in Alt+Tab app switcher. For example, if you have three open tabs in Microsoft Edge, you’ll see three different thumbnails in the Alt+Tab view instead of one.

This could be part of Microsoft’s plan to restore Windows 10’s Sets-like experience.

    USB4 support for Windows 10

In related, Microsoft is updating Windows 10 with proper support for USB4 devices in the latest preview build. And you can expect Windows 10 devices with USB4 technology later this year.

USB4 was announced by the USB Promoter Group back in the first half of 2019 and the new standard is based on Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 protocol, which has been designed to deliver up to 40Gbps speeds.

The USB4 specs have been finalized and some tech companies are already launching USB4-ready devices.

Microsoft testing blue light reduction feature for Windows 10

"Microsoft is slowly revealing new features in its next major update to Windows 10, and it appears blue light reduction feature might be a future addition. The software giant released a new build of Windows 10 testers yesterday with very few visible additions, but Windows enthusiasts have already started picking it apart for clues on new features. Twitter user "Core"has discovered references to a "BlueLightReduction" setting deep within the next major update to Windows 10 (codenamed Redstone 2). It appears to be a setting that will be toggled from the Action Center (notification center) in the operating system.

F.lux has been the most popular option for Windows users looking to reduce blue light in the evenings, but Microsoft's own native toggle will bring this feature to every Windows 10 user. Apple has also integrated a similar feature in iOS 9, but it hasn't announced any plans to bring blue light reduction to Mac OS yet. Microsoft only appears to be testing the feature right now, so there's no guarantee it will ship in the update due early next year. If Microsoft does implement it fully then it will presumably be available on the mobile version of Windows 10, too.

  3. windows 10 key

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
