Threshold. Cortana. I can see Microsoft getting a whole Halo them going on. I could see Office 365 being renamed Pillar of Office or something similar (Forward unto Office, In Office Clad, etc.). (For those who aren't big time Halo fans, Threshold is the name of the planet that the original Halo ring orbits around.)

Well, in all honesty, I'm not ready for the cloud. I don't trust anyone that much, I wouldn't care about the OS being in the cloud, but leave my personal files on my computer. Maybe it's just me, but that's the way I feel.

Definitely you are not alone. I just got the idea when office became a cloud service and everything on OneDrive and all. I thought it will be a cloud based OS until things started surfacing recently.

Me too, except I would not like to be left on the mercy of internet by OS in the cloud. Keeping any important data in the cloud is like leaving keys in the car and complain when it's stolen.

For me "the cloud" has been a handy way to share files with my clients and partners, but it's not a "place" where keep any kind of important data.

I stopped using OneDrive and Dropbox early this year after setting up my own cloud (Qnap NAS).

Not to derail the thread or anything, but I find using the cloud extremely useful. Its not the best place to have the only copies of any files of course. However, having online backups I can access from any computer, phone, or tablet is extremely useful. Streaming programs doesn't seem too bad either. I still want to have a local install on at least one machine of course.

Sounds like you would really like a Chromebook! *Thumbs

As for me, as long as I can turn it on and off, I'll be okay with it. I'll just leave it off. But I can see how it could be very helpful. *Wink
