  2. Get some web filtering on that will block Bogey pages! The av programs that provide effective web filtering also block a great deal of the scum wares as well as malwares out there! The Crawler Security toolbar was an old IE addon toolbar that offered some protection while the two av softwares seen for this are VIPRE Internet Security 2015 presently available for a 30 day trial and Norton's Internet Security!

These softwares include firewall protection which features the web filtering If you want something long term. For the short time however the Crawler annoyance tool bar should help a bit while nothing you will want to keep on forever! It works for IE as well as Firefox while I ran it on Opera when still using the 32bit other browsers. Crawler.com - Products

  3. Why don't the authorities just trace the phone number and bust these a-holes? I'm pretty sure its a clear cut case of consumer fraud.

If he was in the US I would be pointing him at the "Internet Crime Complaint Center" where he could submit a report about the site and other information that could be provided to see they were able and most likely could trace the source.

    Internet Crime Complaint Center

You could likely see them still followup however since you are close being in Canada where both the IC3 and Canadian authorities could pin the scammer down. Typically these clowns set up fly night sites to run their scams from but still leaves traces by way of their ISP host(s)!

I got hit back in May of 2013 at one bogus site that apparently saw numerous complaints and was suddenly shut down by the perp in a hurry! This one came linked off of a regular shopping site which is even more of an urk where I initially made an inquiry as to why I never received any confirmation of the order placed for a mother board I ran a search for and ended there! Come to find out the clown tried to make a $2,600 purchase in Istanbul, Turkey with using the prepaid debit card! I got a $40 insurance claim for the $107 on the card at the time and then received a new card automatically from reporting it.

Newegg was out of stock at the time and none of the other vendors had anything similar listed I would have generally gone through. The all too commonly seen problem however is that as soon as one of these sites gets closed up another one pops up to see it replaced. And some of these are cleverly packaged to appear legit and as secure sites as well. Having some form of web filtering however will block pages for most of the malware and other sites however even when legit but try to see some tool bar added on or see your home page changed.

  6. That is the type of information you would provide when going to file any type of complaint there. Presently Edge is in it's more or less infancy beta type stage and not really the browser you expect it to be. This will however be the replacement for IE and being derived from the IE base at the moment as well as not being a secure browser to be counting on totally!

The phone number on the jam up you are seeing there is the scam and not to be called only confirming you exist but simply making a note of it for future reference if not logging any formal type of complaint. Did the number have a 3 digit area code? That will point out the general locality if here in the states.

Rare if ever use edge, it always getting attack vectors thru, dummy pc scans etc. Fortunate Internet Security Software stopped these attacks. Will not use for the foreseeable future. MS kill this browser.

  9. Kill process in task manager first before all that other radical stuff. Usually closes out the browser, you can then perform a quick scan to see if the infection is still around. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE TRY TO CLOSE THE WARNINGS WHILE YOUR BROWSER IS OPEN.

  10. I hear people claiming they have everything set the way they like it in Edge and having given it a good lookover found it was simply too awkward and unfinished as any suitable browser to advise anyone to be using as the default. What MS should have done but didn't was leave an option for IE knowing Edge wasn't ready for prime time!

Considering I use edge 100% of the time, I'd say it's perfectly ready for prime time for me. I understand that some people are insistent that it have every bell and whistle under the sun, and don't consider it "ready" until then, but as a browser it's 100% functional for me.

  12. I am trying to use Edge but until they have add-ons allowing me to use Lastpass it is more convenient to use Firefox. Also I can manage the bookmark menu much easier in FF.

  13. Microsoft Edge Hacked

Agreed! When trying to get bookmarks only allowed to be imported from IE which isn't even available until pinning the "iexplorer.exe" file to the Start and Task bar I had to first get them imported into the re-enabled IE 11 and then imported into Edge and found that even when stretched out across the second display here I couldn't move the shortcut icon around on the Favorites bar as far as seeing which ones would be left in view. No option to delete was found either.

Someone else complained to me just last weekend about having bought a brand new laptop with 10 coming on it and not able to get onto FaceBook at all which I did rather find puzzling but that is someone who won't be bothered in learning how to do things either! *Rolleyes He would rather tinker with the smart phone then ask for help with anything.

  14. Don't you hate that when someone will not take the time to learn something new but ask you instead. Don't they realize we have read all the possibilities and come up with a proposed solution.

The other thing that bothers me is when someone asks you to solve a problem then are too impatient to wait for a solution. You work away at a solution then they say it does not matter and forget it.

And don't ask them to read the instructions! You will get all kinds of negative replies . . .

Sorry, my rant for the day.

  15. It wasn't any web browser not even Edge that got hacked here recently. Out of the blue one night I was suddenly getting calls in from a cell phone I knew wasn't in service from being turned off. I contacted the care facility to have someone check up anyways on someone and heard the phone was off. Later I got strange emails as well as text messages and found it was the Twitter account that got hacked. Somehow someone was able to see the unidentified calls made but showing a number on the contacts list until I blocked the cell number and closed up the account. You can't pin that on any browser or av program not doing it's job but the social network's lack of security when any account can be violated that easily. The purpose was to spam apparently while everything still got closed up.
