Windows 10: Microsoft Edge wont stay open

When I click the icon in task bar, EDGE search window will only stay open for about 5 seconds. Why?

I have a new laptop that came with Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. Everything was working find yesterday, then today I try to open Edge, it stays open for about 2 seconds then it closes on it's own. Edge will stay open if I click on it through another
link, but to open it directly, it will not stay open.

So I've had this problem too and I've managed to fix it by doing this. So first go to the "ask me anything" bar and type in any website of your desire and that should work just fine. It's only when you open up the default page, that Edge closes down. So after that go to the top right corner of the browser. Underneath the close button, you should see three dots. Click on them. After that go to settings and near the top, you should see a section that says "open with" and underneath that you should see four bubble options. Choose the very bottom one that says "A specific page or pages" and then a bar underneath, that should appear. You could either keep the default, or choose something else. When you open up Microsoft Edge again, it should open up the default page that you've chosen and it should stay active. Hope this as helped!!

didnt work for me and cortana isn't even opening for a second nor is the action center or store beta. i need help and have researched and read and can't locate anything about this in it's enormity. i did change some permissions, went back to locate the default permssion and access for files and think i may have gotten something incorrect. any assistance extremely welcome.
