Windows 10: Microsoft Family Issues - All of them

Bought a new computer for my daughter.


Set her up with her gmail account.


Got her squared away with her Microsoft password.


Downloaded Google Chrome. Couldn't access it without permission.


Requested permission.


Accepted request.


Didn't work. Chrome still requests permission.


Prompted to create a Microsoft family. Created one. Added daughter.


Repeated the steps. Permission requested and granted.


Still requires permission.


When prompted about family status, my daughter receives message that she is already in another family and must leave one before entering another. Nobody understands what is going on.


There are no answers online that work. There are plenty of people posting useless links to steps that don't work, but nothing works.


Restored computer to factory settings.


Will start over from ZERO.


Microsoft is dropping the ball so badly that it begs the question. Is anyone listening? These issues have been coming up since 2015. What a disappointment. There is no one to speak to that can solve the problem because they have gotten lost in their own programming maze. There is no clear direction of how and where to include, exclude, enable and disable things. Have you made your products garbage and useless in the name of security? Interesting business tactic.


My question is, will you do anything about it?

Microsoft Family Screen Time

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

This could happen when the child account fails to sync with the server. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Open
  File Explorer and navigate to the following location:
• C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls
  
  
  Note:
  The above mentioned directory is hidden, copy and paste the same location on the search bar in the File Explorer to access it.
  
• Delete the contents in the
  \\settings directory of the Parental Controls folder.
  
• Reboot the machine to see if the issue persists.
  

If the issue persists, you may want to remove the child account from Microsoft family and add it again.

Configuration settings may be the possible cause why you're experiencing issues with Family when searching for the device. To assist you better, we'd like to clarify few things:

• When you mention 2 devices on your sons account, do you want to use two devices but using one account?
• Could you provide us a screen shot of family list devices?
