Microsoft Family shows wrong activity for my child

    Hi!
I have given my child permission to use his computer 2 times yesterday - 1 hour and then 2 hours, using the button "my parent is here" and selecting the allowed period.

I have watched him using this screen time. I know that he has played Fortnite for 3 hours.

Why is the activity report showing only 1h 46 min?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 child/family safety reports erroneous - shows no websites visited

I finally had a moment to go through these these steps. Last week I made sure Family was active and that the accounts were verified by logging in to my kids' accounts as suggested. Today I followed the second set of directions to look for errors in the delivery
of activity reporting, and the Last Run Result shows the operation was completed successfully.

Does this mean that I should be able to see which websites my children visited between last week and today? If so, it's still not working. I know that one child was on Chrome for an hour and 34 minutes, but for all I know, he was looking at porn or googling
how to make a bomb (not that this child would do either of these, but I have no way of knowing what he's looking at online). I still need this feature fixed. Very disappointed.

  3. Windows 10 child/family safety reports erroneous - shows no websites visited

    Hello Jennifer,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you. We will be glad to assist you with the Issue.

Since when exactly are you facing this issue?

Kindly make sure that the following are correctly set:

    • Child accounts may not be monitored until an adult verifies the account on the device.
With the child account signed in to the device, look in the systray and see if the Family icon is there. It will say Your activity is being reported if Family is active.

    • If Family is not active

      • Check account.microsoft.com/family (signed in as the parent) and make sure that the child’s MSA shows up in the Family, and that it doesn’t say
        Local account instead.

      • Signed in to the device as the child, go to Settings > Accounts > Your Account, and check for a warning that you need to verify the account. If it is there, select the Verify link and follow the steps to
        verify the account.

Once we are sure that the Parent to Child relationship is established and that Family is actively monitoring on the child’s device, we need to look for errors in the delivery of activity reporting.

    • Sign in to the device as the parent, from Start search for task scheduler.

    • Press-and-hold or right-click on Task Scheduler in the search results, and select Run as administrator.

    • In Task Scheduler, navigate to Microsoft > Windows > Shell, and run FamilySafetyRefresh.

    • Observe the Last Run Result. Is there specific error?

Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.

    Family activity report

    Hi Javier,

There are ways on how to manage activity reporting for your child. To configure your account settings, here are the steps:

    • Go to the account.microsoft.com/family site at Microsoft on any PC
    • Then sign-in
    • Open Settings
    • Tap on the Accounts icon
    • Click on Family and other users on the left side
    • Chose Manage family settings online
    • Check recent activity link for the child's account

Turn On and Manage Activity Reporting for Child

    • Click on Recent activity on the left side, and turn on Activity reporting.
    • Check or uncheck to Email weekly reports to me for what you want.
    • Under Web browsing, Apps and games etc., you can view your child's recent activity for each one, tap on Change settings
    • Then set allowed times to manage them, and to block any apps and games.

To Turn Off Activity Reporting for your Child, just tap on Recent activity on the left side, and turn off Activity reporting on the right side.

Get back to us if the steps won't work.
