Microsoft Hi-fi Direct virtual adapter slow down internet speed or if disabled Wireless...

    HI All,

I had a fast internet connection at 1000Mbps.

Testing the connection noticed that I was reaching 14-20 Mbps speed. Did some corrections founded in the community but and then was able to reach 50Mbps speed, and 200Mbps in LAN connected to the router.

Now after several days trying I found the solution, Disabling the Microsoft Hi-fi Direct virtual adapter in Device Manager the internet speed up like supposed to be. 300-400 Mbps in Wireless and 975Mbps connected to LAN. That was my goal.

Now Disabling it the Wireless display does not work, so I can't connect to my Samsung TV. As soon I enable it works but obviously speed go down.

Any Idea how to fix it permanently without disabling the Microsoft Hi-fi Direct virtual adapter?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. disable permanently Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter

    Hi,

I understand that you are facing problems with Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual

    Adapter.

I can understand the frustration, were in you want to uninstall the driver

completely. I will try to help you in fixing the issue.

Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter is used for creating portable

hotspot on PC. Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter is used once two Wi-Fi

direct devices are paired using Windows Pairing experience user

    interface.

To help you suggest more steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if

you could answer the following questions:

    1. Which operating system was installed prior to Windows 10?

    2. Are you

able to connect to the Internet using wireless connection?

    4. Have you

made any recent hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the

    issue?

Follow the below methods and check the issue:

    a. Go to command prompt

as admin and type as “netsh wlan stop hostednetwork” (without no

    quotes).

    b. Then type this “netsh wlan set hostednetwork

    mode=disallow”.

Reference: It disables the service and the Microsoft wifi miniport is gone.

For some reason its mode gets set to allow instated of disallow and when you

uninstall it reappears and messes up the networking, example, printers, wifi

    routers, etc.

Please revert back with the information the ongoing issue with the

Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter. We would be glad to assist

    you.

    Thank you.

  3. disable permanently Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter

    Hi, thanks for answer.

I do did used the WiFi Hosted Network Virtual Adapter before, to share mi WiFi, but this one never gave me any problems at all when changing the wifi connection my PC is connected to.

And even when I put the "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" the driver appears along with the Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter.

But I stopped using the Hosted Virtual Adapter when I moved to use a spare Ethernet wired Router to share my WiFi using this device.

    Now answering the questions:

    1: I had Windows 10 TH2 stable build.

2: I can connect but the internet suddenly stops working after some moments (as limited connection), and also I can't change the AP I'm connected to another one because when the wifi adapter is trying to connect, a error happens and using the troubleshooting
only suggest to restore the device to it's default values, making the adapter to delete all the wifi AP's that were saved.

Resetting after connecting to a different acces point worked, but I have to restart my computer every time I change the AP It's going to connect.

3: I updated to the latest insider slow ring build (build 14342) and then I restored my computer co it's default values using the restoring function found on the Update & Security settings of W10.

The adapter just suddenly appeared aftera day or two of using my PC, this also changed my main Hard Drives into shared folders suddenly, I turn off the sharing but when the Wi-Fi Direct virtual adapter appears, the Drives became shared folders again.

Now, my WiFi works normally again after I uninstall all of the Wi-Fi Direct virtual adapters using the Device Manager (initially there were 20 Microsoft Direct Virtual Wi-Fi adapter drivers because previously I disabled them everytime it appeared on the
Network Connections). But they return after I reset my computer.

I used the command and the cmd log said "the hosted network was stablished to not allow"

I remember this command was only to disable the "Hosted Network Virtual Adapter", which is different to the "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter"

You mention the Wi-Fi Direct appear "once two Wi-Fi

direct devices are paired using Windows Pairing experience user

    interface."

This has something to do with with Miracast or Video Broadcast feature? I have used the Video Broadcast to cast a video to a DLNA device I have, does this has something to do?

I also use a Windows Mobile 10 phone.

Both Miracast and Windows 10 mobile were connected, but to the Router that I use to repeat the internet of my computer using the sharing use propieties of my WiFi adapter, and they are sharing to the Ethernet connection, not to virtual adapters. I been connecting
my devices like this for a few months now without the Virtual Adapters appearing suddenly.

  4. Microsoft Hi-fi Direct virtual adapter slow down internet speed or if disabled Wireless...

disable permanently Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter

Update. It didn't worked, I restarted my computer and the "Microsoft Wi-Fi direct virtual adapter" returned.

The “netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow” command only affected Microsoft Hosted Network virtual adapter.

The "Microsoft Wi-Fi direct virtual adapter" and "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter" are not the same thing, they appear as very different adapters.

And as I said, this adapter not only affects my wifi card, it also puts my main Hard Drives into shared folders without my permission and also creates a wifi network that I never set at all.

Isn't there a Service or something that's causing it? I was having previously a problem sharing Wi-Fi via my router on the Slow Ring build 14295, but that was a bug of the build that it fixed on Build 14342. It was on that newer build where this "Virtual
Wi-Fi adapter" appeared suddenly and activated without my permission
