  1. Microsoft Hosted Network Slow [Again I know]

This question has been asked at least 3 times that I know of from searching but NO ONE has answered it properly, just given the runaround about checking drivers, what kind of router do you have, all the BS answers that just waste time.

So, please respond if you have a REAL ANSWER!!

I run a speedtest on my wired PC and get around 700-800 Mbps down and 250Mbps up [google: speedtest and the server is Montreal with 19ms latency].

I then do the exact same speedtest on my phone connected with an EnGenius wireless N usb adapter to my hosted network and run the same test and get anywhere from 15-19Mbps down and 25-30Mbps up also with Montreal server and 21ms latency.

I switch to a newer different DLink AC1200 usb adapter and get the EXACT SAME SPEEDS as the EnGenius.

OBVIOULSY, SOMETHING IN WINDOWS is limiting the connection speed. I'm trying to figure out what it is and how to change it to unlock the full speed. My guess is that it is NOT CONNECTING with 802.11n (or ac with the DLink) but something slower like maybe b or g. Is there a way to determine what connection protocol is being used in the command prompt with the netsh wlan commands or any other way?

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a "network setting" in the network adapters control panel that needs to be swithced/changed/turned off?

Thanks for anyone that has some knowledge.

I'm currently using windows 10 but the same thing happens on windows 8. Given that this exact problem has been listed here in the microsoft community webpage for at least 8 years it's definitely something that's been a around a while, probably windows 7 or earlier.

    :)

    Microsoft Hosted Network Slow

Since you have many devices connected to the same hosted network, the internet speed slows down to accommodate the additional devices.
