Windows 10: Microsoft is not accepting my password nor sending me a code to reset ir

As the title says. For context, I got a new pc and had to reset it. After starting it up, it asked for my account details which I did by reusing the information from my other pc. Somehow it kept telling me that the password was wrong, so I tried changing it. I tried to log in with the new password and same message appeared. Tried doing the same thing a 2nd time and the same "wrong password" message appeared.

Thanks for the reply, but it does not help me. The website does not proceed past step 4. After entering the security code, the website does not proceed to step 5. It does not give an error message, it simply greys out the next and cancel buttons and hangs
indefinitely.

• Click on Reset your password.

• Provide the Microsoft Account of the child account and type in the characters, click Next.
• In the identity verification page, click on Email, provide the email address, click Send code.
• Check if the code has been sent to the email address and provide the code for verification.
• Follow the prompts to create a new password for the child's Microsoft account.
