  2. My computer says that there is an nsis error after I log in. I type in my password, then it goes to a completely black screen and says there is an nnis error.

    Hello Carl,

The NSIS errors may occur under one of the following conditions:

    1. Software files downloaded from the Internet are not complete.

    2. Downloaded software files have been modified from the original version.

    3. Your PC is infected with a virus.

    4. Physical media being used to install the program is damaged.

Share this information to assist you better.

Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

Method 1: I also suggest you to run virus scan (Microsoft Safety Scanner) and check if it helps to resolve the issue. If a computer is infected by a virus, lots of resources will be taken up to greatly slow down computer
performance. Safety Scanner - Windows Defender Security Intelligence

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 2: Perform System File Checker (sfc) scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

To perform SFC Scan, refer to the below link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Hope this helps, let us know the status of the issue.

Original title: nsis error when logging in.

I need help. My computer says that there is an nsis error after I log in. I type in my password, then it goes to a completely black screen and says there is an nnis error. When I click ok, the screen becomes completely black. I have no money for a new computer
or repairs. Is there a way to fix this manually?

    Welcome to the TenForums @slayerjacy

Could you please add the model of your Motherboard to you spec.

You didn't mention, is there any patterns to this behavior, games, watching videos, etc.

Have you backed up critical data to a source off machine?

General search on the internet produces lots of hits. Overclocking, Memory, Power supply, over heating and drivers.

    Overclocking, disable

    Memory, run memtest86

Power Supply - is there enough juice especially under load. You said PSU was 10 years old, do you have one you can swap in.

Overheating, need a tool to monitor and then load up device with something like Prime95 and ensure temps level off in safe zone. You likely have checked insides for airflow / obstructions.

For drivers you may wish to reference this tutorial. When or if you BSOD follow posting instructions in BSOD section. You may wish to preview with whocrashed or bluescreenview.

  6. Then you should try getting a tool that lets you monitor temps and load it it up. Make sure that temps stay in safe range. Then driver verify.

What info is your Reliability History giving and if there are any red flags then right click on "view tech details" even if that entry is greyed out.Forget "check for a solution" option. If there was one then there should not be a problem.Any details listed should enable you to hopefully find an answer.

  10. Well now you have info to post on BSOD section. I would post before I buy.

You can also shut off the automatic restart so you can actual read BSOD screen.

    Auto Restart Disable
Press Windows Key +R, type sysdm.cpl, enter, click Advance tab, click on “Setting” in Startup and Recovery section. Remove check mark from Automatically restart.
