Windows 10: Microsoft is working on a Game Mode for Windows 10

Discus and support Microsoft is working on a Game Mode for Windows 10 in Windows 10 News to solve the problem; I'm sorry but this is a load. First, Apple has always used Object C. Yes, they have deprecated some functions and added others, just like the Windows... Discussion in 'Windows 10 News' started by swarfega, Dec 27, 2016.

    ...

Objective-C is just a fruity version of C++. Nothing to do with the APIs. And it has just been phased out for Swift. That means nothing when the APIs have been completely replaced with different commands.

In 2001 Apple Developers had to rewrite their applications to use the Carbon API layer so they could transition their apps to Mac OS X
In 2007 Apple developers had to rewrite their applications to use the Cocoa API layer so they could make 64-bit compatible apps.

  3. You're a fan of that program? I have used it back in Vista days so I can run GTA IV on my AMD Turion laptop, it satisfied me.

My actual concern was why doesn't game mode support non-store games, and we've kind of got off track.

I was thinking about this more. Many/most of the UWP games will run on pretty low end hardware. Low enough that a game mode would be a noticeable improvement. For instance, on my Yogo 2n1 running the m3 gen 6 processor would probably have a decent boost depending on what is turned off. Not so much my 8 core extreme monster. If Microsoft is thinking in those terms, to tune for lower end, maybe low-mid hardware, it would probably be a good idea for marketing to communicate that. Stating you are supporting store games doesn't really say anything. Well, except sounding like you are trying to force the store down user's throats. It would be nice to know the scope in which this is noticeable. Otherwise it's going to cause all sort of confusion as people wonder why their low end hardware isn't working "faster" or why their high end hardware isn't working faster, or worse, claim it slows it down due to shutting down some process that's running a gee-whiz driver for their extreme style motherboard.

You have a valid point there MrBill. Low end UWP games won't need a game mode.

  9. That's the way it looks, yeah.

I'm betting it will help me at least a little, since I have to manually set the GTAV.exe process to high every time I launch or else I get missing textures.

Hello, I have not read the entire thread, I have a quick question, please: is this implemented even in an experimental way, in the latest Insider build or is it something for the Creator's Update?

I have The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim installed on my primary Win 10 Pro. Should I also install it on the latest TP build to test this?

I am just an occasional gamer.

    Thank you *Smile

  11. It's not functional in the current Insider build, although the UI elements to turn it on are there. It's supposed to be coming soon, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in the next build.
