MS has completely lost their heads in their rear if they think that is the annoyance with wu. Funny how they are completely ignoring the top voted issue of forced updates and especially drivers. Just too funny

I haven't had one single driver update since I upgraded to and then clean installed Win10.
I did both without an internet connection, installed my video driver that I downloaded from AMD beforehand(so I could see my desktop properly for the rest ahead), then I went strait to Control Pane >> All Control Panel Items>>System>>System Properties>>Hardware tab>>Device Installation Settings and then chose No, let me choose what to do>>Never install driver software from Windows Update

Yeah, impossible to install windows while online. Unplugging my lan is absolute must during installation after which I have to spend time going through the policy editor before I can do absolutely anything which is retarded.
But that setting doesn't really work and to be honest nothing does if there is no driver installed. You can prevent updates but nothing stops driver installs if there isn't one already installed. Best way I found to prevent this update bs is through the policy editor.

Try this; local group policy editor/computer configuration/administrative templates/system/internet communication manager/internet communication settings/turn off windows update driver searching
This of course has to be used with disabled auto update checking

  9. Be careful what you wish for. I had the "do not update drivers" radio button highlighted, but in its wisdum, Windows10 proceeded to update 8 drivers the day I upgraded from Win7 to Win10. Problem is that only 2 of the drivers were actual updates to more recent drivers than what I had installed. The other 6 were rollbacks to an earlier driver, or in the case of my Samsung flat screen monitor driver, it was replaced with a Generic 2006 Microsoft driver. There's no noticeable difference with the overall system, but still...

From the mandatory updates, to the spying, to sharing my connection with the planet, to forcing invasion features on Win7 users, Microsoft is continuing to transform into a much "darker" enterprise since Satya Nadella took over as CEO.

There you have a point, I buy my machine, I own it, Windows is licensed, but they want to take over my machine(Maximum Overdrive? or Skynet? I know--Redmond Overdrive Micronet!!!)

    Notice R.O.M

how about let us check off what we want or don't want for updates like we did in Win 7.

Yep, Microsoft may be catching up with Apple and Google in this department -- but they still have a ways to go.

That's a good point, PJLLB. Apple seems to be the king of treating users as pure stupid. My wife's IPhone updates without asking her, stores her photos in the Apple cloud without her consent, and doesn't explain anything it's going to do beforehand, or after it's done. At least my Android (Google) asks me if I want to update the OS or Apps.

Perhaps Microsoft should have been sneaky and disrespectful, like Apple..and not allowed us to toggle on/off privacy and update settings. We could live our computer life in ignorant bliss like the IPhone peeps. Microsoft Just Fixed One of the Biggest Windows Update Annoyances... :)

Then I would definitely go back to Windows 7. I like Win 10 but I have used a 3rd party program to choose which updates get installed on my Win 10 computer. The choice should be and is mine.
