  1. Microsoft Keyboard assigned Keys in Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center not working on...

I've mapped the Browser Back button to: Copy Ctrl+C, and theBrowser Forward Button to: Paste Ctrl-V in the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center for a Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

This a great use of those two buttons as I never use them for the default purpose, but when doing lots of copy and pasting, is quite the time saver.

But, if I am RDP'd from my Windows 10 Pro system to another Windows 10 system, this shortcut does not get passed on to the RDP session full screen or windowed

Is this by design, or is there a setting that I am missing to make this work properly?

  2. Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center does not recognize Microsoft Surface Laptop keyboard

    Problem:

    1. I have a brand new Microsoft Surface Laptop, with Windows 10 Pro, which naturally comes with a brand new Microsoft keyboard hardwired to the laptop.
    2. I installed the
      Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center
to reassign some of the keyboard keys.
    3. However, Microsoft's keyboard program does not detect Microsoft's own keyboard!
    Failed solutions:

    1. All the help pages say "update your drivers" or "unplug the USB device and plug it back in." However, this is a laptop keyboard, which is hardwired, not a USB keyboard. It is working fine, so there's no reason why the program should not detect it.
    2. Yes, EVERYTHING is up to date, including ALL Windows Updates and ALL keyboard drivers.
    3. Yes, I tried the troubleshooter.
    4. Yes, I checked
the list of "supported devices" that Microsoft lists here
. But they are all mice, none of them are keyboards.
    5. Screenshots of my steps are below -- Microsoft moderators, please don't dismiss me by saying "run the troubleshooter" or "update your drivers" or "turn it off and on again."
    Questions:

    1. Has anyone actually SEEN the Mouse and Keyboard Center recognize a Windows laptop keyboard? Not a USB external keyboard, the actual physical laptop keyboard?
    2. Does the Mouse and Keyboard Center actually work with laptops? There's no documentation suggesting it shouldn't, especially with Microsoft's own hardware (like the Surface Laptop).
    3. Where is there a list of what keyboards work with the "Mouse and *Keyboard* Center"?
    Screenshots:

    1. "No supported device detected"

Error 1603 when trying to install Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center

I've searched all over the internet to try to find a solution for this Error 1603 that I am getting when I am trying to install Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center. I did a recent in place upgrade for Windows 10 (Anniversary edition) and I was sure that this program was already installed.

The driver for the mouse works fine and is listed in Device Manager but I would like to have this software as it can enable you to assign certain functions for you mouse keys for specific apps. It's a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 and the software for it is MouseKeyboardCenter_64bit_ENG_2.8.106

There is a Microsoft Program troubleshooter that I ran that didn't help one bit. Then I read in the Microsoft forums a suggestion of trying to install it by doing a clean boot, but that didn't work either. This Error 1603 seems to be a common problem but I have yet to find a solution to it.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the error message.

On top of that Windows Update is trying to install some updates for the mouse (and keyboard even though it's only a mouse that I have) and it is giving me error messages as well (see screenshot)

I couldn't find any info online for the error message it gives which is Error 0x800705b3.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue and if so, what did you do to resolve it?
