Windows 10: Microsoft minesweeper keeps crashing

Whenever I open the app, it crashes after about 3 seconds.I have tried to reinstall it, but didn't work.

Why did my Minesweeper window disappear?

I downloaded Minesweeper from the Microsoft Store. I don't always play it but I often keep a window running and minimized, like I did in Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, and 7. But suddenly the Minesweeper window disappeared -- that is something that didn't happen
in older Windows versions unless I closed them or logged out or rebooted or BSODed.

Why does Minesweeper crash in Windows 10? Does it use Edge technology?

OK, today I DID try the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter. It required me to switch from local login to a Microsoft Account login on my PC. I obeyed, and ran the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter again.

THE WINDOWS STORE APPS TROUBLESHOOTER FOUND NO PROBLEM.

Right, when Minesweeper crashes, it isn't a problem for Microsoft. Well, no biggie. I might install Windows 95 in a virtual machine ... but why, I already have Linux in a virtual machine and Linux has Minesweeper. But it didn't used to take many system resources
to keep a Windows Minesweeper window running and minimized, just restoring it occasionally when I needed a break.

It's also mo problem for Microsoft when Edge crashes. The Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter didn't find any problems there either.

I switched back from Microsoft Account login to local login on my PC.

It looks like the account switching made Internet Explorer 11 forget all the windows and tabs that it had open in its previous session. I'd returned to Internet Explorer 11 instead of Edge because IE 11 used to restore its previous session, it used to remember
its open windows and apps, but if Microsoft ruined that too, I'd better switch everything over to Waterfox.

 

I just want to say that I have the exact same problem and have tried finding solution with no luck. Have re-installed it already also. See my system spec for more info if needed.
