Windows 10: Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID Not Charging

Hi, all. So I have this weird issue. Even if I leave my keyboard plugged in, it never goes above 90% charge, and will fall, while plugged in, to below 80% sometimes. I have tried plugging it into USB ports, we well as USB charging stations, with no change. If I unplug it, then the power tanks. Also, the fingerprint ID rarely works, and I've set it up like 10 times now (though I don't know if that's related since a bunch of people seem to be having an issue with the fingerprint scanner on this keyboard). Does anyone here have an idea what this could be or how to fix it? Thanks, in advance!

No, haven't tried it. Like @Bill_Bright says, keyboards are a very personal choice

I'm wondering if the Surface just can't CHARGE the keyboard over USB. do you
have a way of plugging the keyboard into a USB wall adapter to charge from AC as
opposed to the computer? The Surface USB port does not have much power and other
devices fail to work without a powered hub. Which Surface do you have?
