Windows 10: Microsoft mouse scrolling too fast/too slow

I'm using Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop combo and after almost every restart, the mouse scrolling speed using scroll wheel get screwed up. It's either too fast or too slow, depending on the previous adjustment.


Only adjustment through Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center software actually adjusts the speed and then it stays properly working only until the next restart or few restarts; have not confirmed fully yet. This has been going for something like a year and started after some Windows update.

Mouse Wheel Scroll Too Fast

Hi,
I have a Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse 2000, but, each time I slow the speed of the scrolling using the mouse wheel it works fine, until I reboot the PC. Then, on restarting the speed is super fast again (too fast to really control).
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

MS Wireless mouse scrolls too fast

My 'MS wireless mouse 1000' scrolls too fast. This is in spite of bringing down the number of lines to just one at a time.

Way too fast scrolling in Emacs on Win10

My question is almost the same as this one: Way too fast scrolling in Emacs on OSX

I am using Emacs 26.1 on a Windows 10 machine. The scrolling speed when using the trackpad is much higher than when using the mouse. I tried with the following lines in my init.el:

... to no avail: the trackpad will always scroll much faster than the mouse. In other programs, both the mouse and trackpad scrolling speeds are reasonable.

It seems that the trackpad is triggering much more scroll events when in Emacs, compared to other programs.

I'm not interested in "smooth scrolling", I just want to scroll at reasonable speeds.
