Windows 10: Microsoft not Updating 0x80070002

There was a problem with my windows update and microsoft download which got fixed last night but

now there is a problem with actually carrying out the update.


I have tried from Settings under Update & Security which gived Error 0x80070002


I have also tried through Installation Repair which also states, 'Windows 10 Installation has failed.


I tried various methods on how to fix it including microsoft forums and third-party forums but to no avail

Some suggest Scanning and cleaning DSIM but all the commands give me the same error:

Error: 2


An error occurred while attempting to start the servicing process for the image located at C:\.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log


I don't know if that's the issue or not, i tried other commands for DSIM even using the ISO source file but i get the same error.

reregister the BITS files and the Windows Update files, half of them succeeded but half of them did not, showing two kinds of errors, either:

1. "".dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not was not found. This file cannot be registered

2. The module "" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.


I'm at my wits end and have been trying everything.

2004 update windows 10 error 0x80070002

Hello everyone,

thanks to some of the suggestions here and to some from other sources I have managed to fix the 0x80070002 error breaking up my feature update to 2004.

For completeness' sake and since it may help others, the following steps worked for me.

1. Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website
2. Create a bootable USB drive with the MCT
3. Boot up from this USB Drive
4. Choose install settings, click 'Next', but on the next screen select "Repair your computer" instead of "Install"
5. Choose "Troubleshoot" -> "Startup Repair" and let it finish
6. Restart into Windows and attempt the usual Windows update

It looks like the BCD on my computer had been damaged by the boot loader (Windows 10 + Recovery partition) and running the "Startup Repair" from the installation USB Drive corrected the errors.

 

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows

I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?
