    According to
    this blog entry    , Office Mobile should not require a Office 365 subscription in Continuum for Phones until April 1st. However, we have several reports of your issue already. Let us track it down in your case: When you open Microsoft Word in Continuum, you
    see your name on the top-right-hand side. Please, select that. Which account is selected there? Furthermore, after opening an existing Word document » Menu » File » Settings » About » License Type » Does it say:

    A) View only

    B) Office 365

    Installation of microsoft office 365

    Office 365 is a subscription service and is associated with a Microsoft Account used to purchase the subscription.

    At best all you could have is to have Office pre-installed by the system builder ready for activation. Even in they had activated Office prior to sale they can log into their account and de-authorise the computer at any time.

    Some manufacturers are bundling an Office 365 subscription as a part of the package but would normally not be available as a private sale.
