    Hi

    I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 as my mail client with IMAP. My setup is working correctly but I have a question regarding the display of the IMAP folder hierarchy in the left hand column under All Mail Items. Somehow, possibly due to a previous error in deleting a user email account, in addition to the current imap hierarchy, outlook is displaying the hierarchy for two previously deleted email accounts. I have tried to delete the heirarachies, but outlook complains that the data files are associated with an email address and I should remove the email address but there is no email address to delete as they were previously deleted. I tried deleting separately the entry in Appdata|local|Microsoft|Outlook but to no avail. I also tried reinstalling Outlook but once I attach to the old pst file, the entries come back. It almost sounds like their is some config file somewhere that I need to delete.

    I would appreciate any help. I suppose reinstalling windows may fix this but I would like to avoid that if I can.

    I read some postings, but still not clear...



    Basically, I have a mail box (at a service provider) that is linked to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with IMAP. It works great, all mails are in outlook.



    Question, sholuld I set outlook (without exchange; mail provider uses IMAP) in lumia or the mail system with IMAP? If latter, I guess, calender in Outlook won't work.



    What's the best solution?

  3. I am so frustrated...

    If I understand this correctly, you have an email address through mail.com and you use it with Outlook. Are you using the Outlook desktop application or the Outlook.com webmail application? You want to look at how you configured Outlook to access mail.com
    and use those settings, not the Microsoft Live settings to add the mail.com account to the phone.

    Do you have POP3 or IMAP access on your Mail.com account? If you have POP3 or IMAP, you should be able to add the mail.com account to your phone and get the mail directly from mail.com. To keep everything in synch, you'll want to use the IMAP settings.

    Go into control panel, and mail.

    There, select email accounts, are there more than one entries?

    You would not reinstall windows for this - It's an Outlook issue, not Win 10.

    That said, considering it's Outlook and you are using IMAP, you could remove all Outlook profiles, reboot then check nothing set in that CP mail section, then re-setup your IMAP account, reboot again and check it.

    It is within the pst you are tying it to, if IMAP, just re-setup the account and then perform an import from that pst, selecting only what you need IMO.

    I don't think it is in the pst file because I installed outlook 2007 on my laptop and brought over the pst file using a thumbdrive. The problem does not replicate on the laptop. There must be some config somewhere where this is kept. I tried removing the imap but did not reboot after every step. I will try that. Checking Mail under control panel only shows one email address. When I try to remove the entries under Data Files, it tells me to delete the email address.

    I am replying to my post because I discovered the solution to my problem after quite a while. The problem was not in the pst file as I suspected but in some configuration buried in my user profile. My solution was to delete the user in User Accounts and recreate it. I did first try deleting the Outlook profile and rebooting etc. but that did not work. I don't really understand why I had to do this and there may be another solution but this was the easiest.
