    Microsoft Pen: My pen is not consistent during writing


    Hi there


    My pen become wiggly during writing, it is not consistent at all !. For example when I try to draw a straight line it become wiggly and not as drawn (see figure below). I tried to adjust it from setting, but this didn't work. I thought this might be from the pen tip and batteries so, I changed the tips and batteries,this didn't work as well. What is the problem ?

    1. What is the make and model of the Pen tool and the computer?
    2. What happens when you try to write?
    3. Are you aware of any recent changes made on the device prior to this issue?
    4. Which version of Windows is installed on your device?

    If you’re using the Microsoft Surface Pen, you may refer the article
    Troubleshoot Microsoft Surface Pen
    for the troubleshooting steps. The same troubleshooting steps can also be implemented for the other pens as well.

    I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • Which model of Microsoft Surface you are using?
    • Is it not working only in writing mode?
    • You have also mentioned Windows 10 PC in your query? Are you facing issue on computer?

    Reboot the device and check the issue.

    We understand the difficulties you are facing with the pen, while using it on the laptop. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.



    • Was there a major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren't facing this issue?
    • What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
      winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • What is the model number of the HP Elite book?
    • What is the model number of the Bamboo pen?


    However, we would suggest you to perform these steps.



    Update the Human Interface Device
    driver from device manager.

    1. Press Windows + X, select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Right click on all the listed devices one by one and click on Update Driver.
    4. Please restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
