Microsoft Photos - "The app didn't start."

    Hi Everyone,

After a ton a research and attempted fixes, I decided to post this question in the hopes of getting a new or updated response.

On my Windows 10 machine, I have been having issues with the Microsoft Photos app not opening for the past few months, I am not sure when it started. been trying to live with it, and have looked into possible alternatives, but haven't came across any other simple programs.

Through out the the few weeks of research and fix attempts, these are what I have tried with no luck.

    - Windows Store apps troubleshooter

    - Apps & Features > Microsoft Photos > Advanced options

    - Terminate

    - Repair

    - Reset

    - Uninstalled the application using the PowerShell script and reinstalling through the Microsoft store

    - Reset the Windows 10 OS keeping all personal files, removing all apps, and reloading windows 10

    - reinstall the Windows 10 through the built in reset option removing all files and reinstalling Windows using the cloud download option

The only option I have not tried yes, is to reinstall Windows 10 through a USB drive and performing a full reformatting of the hard drives, however, I am not sure if there is a difference between this option an the reinstallation process previously completed using the built in reset option.

All the previous discussions within this community seem to be from a few years ago, including the various articles which then recommend installation of third party applications as a last resort. I am still trying to avoid this if possible.

Any recent developments or new fix information would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my current system information:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

    Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041
    System Type x64-based PC

    Processor IntelR CoreTM i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 4 Cores, 4 Logical Processors

    Thank you

    :)

    Hi,

    Thank you for responding.

As troubleshooter found no issues, I recommend you to uninstall the Photo app using Windows PowerShell command and reinstall using the Windows store.

Note: You need to close the Windows Store and other apps before executing the PowerShell command. Also, sign-out and sign-in before installing the apps from the
    store.

    Follow the below steps.

    • Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.

    • Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.

    • Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.

      get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Photo app from the Windows store
