Windows 10: Microsoft - Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.7233.1 updates need to be installed every...

Recently months every time I check Windows 10 for updates, the Microsoft - Printer update - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.7233.1 is there to be installed again. Yes I have installed it many times.

And again!

And again!

and ad nauseum.

Searches for a resolution are fruitless in finding a constructive answer.

This forum's latest answers vary from 2015 to 2018.

I have never really known what a Microsoft printer is anyway. Do I need a Microsoft printer?

Installing the update does not stop is coming up again. Is there no way to stop this?


Also I have no HP printer anymore and its software is removed but I still get HP printer updates too.


Does anyone from Microsoft read these forums and pay attention to the problems?

Windows Update = Microsoft - Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.723

I'm using Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004, Build 19041.610

The last few weeks, when I open Window Update --> Check for Updates the following driver "Microsoft - Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00 AM - 6.1.723" is always Downloaded and Installed. This happens every time I check Windows Update. This is done without any OK to Install click.

When I view Update History --> Drivers I see this driver installed with the most recent date.

I have not installed new printer for 5 or 6 years. I've made not changes, that I know of, to the WiFi network to which the printers are connected.

Could really some help to find out what had change and why this is happening.

I'm with you. I have noted the same thing on my MDT setup with Creators Update and Fall Creators Update. Suddenly, late last week, this strange action started occurring. I allow the continuation on error for the updates, so it was not a show stopper, but with the default of 7 tries, that many reboots lengthened the time of deployment unacceptably for no decent reason.

Things to note:

1. This is a NEW thing. Just started, late last week.
2. The update attempts do not appear in the update history.
3. Manually scanning for updates does not locate/attempt to install said update.
4. It affects, at least, Windows 10 Creators Update and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (otherwise already fully patched.)

I have seen this on my virtual machine testing environment - I have NOT tested it on a physical machine yet (sounds like you are using physical machines.)
