Operating System Update Releases

I know MS catches a lot of grief about the March and October update releases. I have been building and repairing Windows, Mac and Linux computers since I was 12 years old (1977). There is not a generation of pre or post-GUI operating system that I have not
become well acquainted with from the moment consumers were first able to purchase their own computer.

I said that to say this. Software and operating systems are complex enough even if one person was doing the development. The systems are so big, that will never happen. It takes a well-coordinated team. That introduces an added complexity. Even with the best
teams, an effort can be much like trying to herd worms.

In the last 2 years (almost 3 now), Microsoft, Apple and many of the Linux developers have taken to more QA testing prior to release. I am happy to now see release dates pushed back in the efforts to have a smoother roll-out. I will be happy to let my anticipation
build while I and my customers wait. When there are fewer flaws, we are all happier. So thank you to Microsoft, Apple and to the Linux developers for doing the stepped releases, the rigorous testing and for being willing and efficient about pulling an update
back the second you find that an issue made it out the door. ~ The Dock

 

Microsoft Announces Windows 10 Operating System

I look forward to the day where Microsoft bins the Windows operating system, and build an entirely new operating system from the bottom up. New everything. They are the only company in the world capable of doing it. About time something new happened as opposed to ui changes.

 

Microsoft signals end of Paint program

Microsoft has confirmed that it will continue to offer its graphics program Paint.

In a recent update, it had listed Paint as a feature that would be either removed or no longer developed.

Paint, renowned for its simplicity, has been part of the Windows operating system since its launch in 1985.

Microsoft suggested it would not remain on Windows 10 by default but did say it would be available for free on the Windows Store.
