On 02nd February 2021, Microsoft released another Windows Cumulative Update KB4598291 build no 19042.789 to Windows 10 v20H2.

Known issues in this update::

Symptom 01::

System and user certificates might be lost when updating a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be impacted if they have already installed any Latest cumulative update LCU released September 16, 2020 or later and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from media or an installation source that does not have an LCU released October 13, 2020 or later integrated. This primarily happens when managed devices are updated using outdated bundles or media through an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services WSUS or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This might also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not have the latest updates integrated.


Workaround 01::

If you have already encountered this issue on your device, you can mitigate it within the uninstall window by going back to your previous version of Windows using the instructions here. The uninstall window might be 10 or 30 days depending on the configuration of your environment and the version you’re updating to. You will then need to update to the later version of Windows 10 after the issue is resolved in your environment.


Symptom 02::

When using the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor IME to enter Kanji characters in an app that automatically allows the input of Furigana characters, you might not get the correct Furigana characters. You might need to enter the Furigana characters manually.


Workaround 02::

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

Microsoft Confirms Windows 7 Release Candidate Will Launch on April 10 2009

In an exclusive interview with the guys at Neowin.net, Microsoft have confirmed, that provided no serious problems arise, they are on track to release Windows 7 RC on April 10. As yet the only changes which are known about, are User Account Control (UAC) fixes which prevent malware from disabling UAC all together.

More information about the development of Windows 7 comes from Geeksmack, with their email conversation with Steven Sinofsky, Microsoft Senior Vice President of Windows. Sinofsky said, "We have received an amazing amount of feedback, many suggestions for new features too, during the beta—over 500,000 suggestions just from the Send Feedback button." What was also interesting to note, "... by far the most humorous element has been that the build numbers blogged about are higher than our current build. Today’s build is 7046, but it hasn’t completed yet *Smile "
Sinofsky is also said to have spoken to Ars Technica, and said that, "The build will be available broadly".

Windows10 23/02 automatic download

Since Windows update 23/02/17 auto installed, I have lost my list of Apps -programmes which normally show at the bottom left of my screen also the Adobe Bridge. I did a System Restore back to 12/02, got the Bridge back but not my list of Apps eg Windows accessories/snipping tool etc, etc.

I would like to know how to cancel automatic update installation and how to get my programme/apps list back please?
