Windows 10: Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Insider Builds With Unlimited Update Pause Extension and New...

Microsoft has rolled out new Windows 11 Insider Preview builds on June 8 for both the Beta and Experimental channels. The update introduces a new 26H1 build train and allows users to extend Windows Update pauses as many times as needed. Several bugs have also been addressed in this release.

New Build Structure for Windows 11 26H1


Microsoft is rolling out a new build number series for Windows 11 version 26H1. Insiders in the Experimental (26H1) channel will now receive builds in the 28100 series, while a new Beta (26H1) channel based on the 28000 series is also launching.

Insiders can switch between the Beta (26H1) and Experimental (26H1) channels through Settings, Windows Update, Windows Insider Program, and by selecting the experience.

This switch does not require a clean reinstall of Windows and is handled as an in-place upgrade. Microsoft has noted that Windows 11 26H1 is a targeted release for specific silicon, including Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series devices.

Most Insiders are advised to stay on the default Windows core version in the Advanced options, rather than specifically selecting 26H1.

Beta Channel: Build 26220.8575


The Beta build now allows users to extend Windows Update pauses indefinitely. Previously, it was only possible to pause updates for a limited time. This update lets users extend the pause repeatedly, providing greater control over when updates are installed.

This build also includes several bug fixes. It addresses issues where audio wasn't working for some Insiders after recent flights, as well as reliability problems with Settings, Apps, and Installed Apps.

Additionally, freezes that occurred when interacting with Search, Notepad, or other scenarios in the previous flight have been resolved.

Experimental (26H1): Build 28120.2242


This update includes general improvements and fixes for the 26H1 experience. It also expands the rollout of Administrator Protection, which can now be enabled directly through Settings under Privacy and Security, Windows Security, Account Protection. Turning on the feature requires a restart.

Previously, Administrator Protection was only available through IT administrator configuration. The new Settings toggle makes the feature accessible to individual users who want to enable it without needing group policy management.

Beta (26H1): Build 28020.2236 Minor Improvements


This update includes a small number of general improvements and fixes. It does not introduce any specific new features.

No new builds were released this week for either the standard Experimental channel or the Future Platforms channel, including the Canary 29500 series.

• Some PCs may rollback with error code 0xc1900101-0x4001c when installing this build. If you hit this, after the PC rolls back to the previous build, you may want to pause updates until we release a fix.

Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.22504.1010 - UPDATE FAILED

This may have same issue which is listed build 22504 release announcement as "know issue".

• Some devices may bugcheck with error code 0xc1900101-0x4001c when installing this build. If you hit this, after the device rolls back to the previous build, you may want to pause updates until we release a fix.
