    And yeah, I know what Media Center was; I was a beta tester on it and had the TV card. Been a long time ago, though.

    I was expecting it to show up in "My Library" under my Store account. Every other non Pre installed App does? It must be tied to that device? I haven't done a clean install on a PC I've upgraded yet to see if you lose it.

    For me, if I upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro that I had added Media Center to. I got the Windows DVD Player App. On the one PC I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate (that has Media Center in it from day one) no Windows DVD Player App.

    'S OK, I'll pass on it since I really don't do movies and video on my computer if I can watch it on TV. *Smile

    So, are they going to charge for DVD Player for those who had Media Center?

    No, if you had Media Center installed, it's uninstalled, and you get this app for free. If you didn't have Media Center installed, you don't get this App. If you then want it, you pay for it.

    Just installed Media Center on my 8.1 desktop so that when I upgrade to 10 I get DVD player for free *Smile

    If you have a product code for it, you may as well use it. I snagged 4 when Microsoft was offering them up for free for a limited time. Just enough for my 2 laptops and two desktop PC's.

    Same here on one of my old computers that originally had Windows 7 Pro on it upgraded from a clean install of Windows 7 Pro right to Windows 10. I had to do it this way otherwise all I got was a reboot loop. It is a very old PC from 2008. Anyway no DVD player app for free just $14.99. No matter I will just install a codec pack. Problem solved.

    My copy of Windows 7 come with Media Center, so I got this app, but I use PowerDVD for my DVD/BD movies.
