I have three Windows 10 upgrades plus a fast track 10 which may not be wanted much longer. I also have one 8.1, a W7 pro and a W7 Ultimate, I don't want all Windows 10, Microsoft are really getting "big brother".

I installed it on 3 laptops and 2 desktops. It is perfectly stable.

I can vouch for that, my sister & mom who both use laptops with low-end i3 processors both said they noticed a significant jump in speed when comparing 10 to 7.

My laptop definitely runs better with 10 than it did with 7. But I really can't tell any difference on the 2 desktops that previously ran 8.1.

Microsoft sets stage for massive Windows 10 upgrade strategy

Hi Win 10 may be stable but it's slow during start-up and re-starting following updates. I manage about 40 Dell PCs of various ages which I had previously upgraded to 8.1. These are all now Win 10 and they all exhibit longer boot times with really annoying hour-glassing and this is after full defrags. I have also upgraded my own i7 PC with 8GB RAM, Striped RAID etc from Win 7 to Win 10 and this also suffers boot times as long as Win 7 and slower website graphic image download. I notice that hard drive activity is much higher during and after start-up than with 7 or 8.1 and I wonder what Win 10 is doing to keep the drive so active; this is part of the slow boot problem. Microsoft have a lot of work to do.

  9. I have not noticed a really slow boot up time, I have noticed more disk activity right after boot up but doesn't affect the laptops performance. I have noticed much quicker shut downs though than with windows 7. one thing I am curious about is battery life, thinking it uses more battery on windows 10 but not sure if I want to go back to windows 7 as a test or not then go through reinstalling windows 10

  10. Fully agree with you there
My windows 8.1 kept freezing, crashing
    IE11 kept stopping
Even Google kept stopping and you tube as well
That was even with the latest drivers and software updated

    Since upgrade to Windows 10
Have not had one single problem with system
Also been able to dump IE11 completely
    Now using Bing completely
    Edge Browser a lot better
So happy with 10 on all the systems in the house I have installed it on
    Certainly a lot faster also

  11. This thread is SUPPOSED to be about MS pushing Win10 on folks -- apparently in a last-ditch effort to achieve their upgrade goals, no matter how many folks they upset in the process.

Not EVERYONE wants or likes Win10, even though the vast majority so far DO like Win10 -- but it's still wrong to be pushing it so aggressively on everyone, even those who have gone to the trouble to disable the update and its nagware.

As to where folks get their information about problems and instability with Win10, as for me, it's from personal experience, with 2 out of 3 upgraded machines getting trashed in the process, and the third (the successful one) not performing any better than it did under Win8.1. So, in my case, it is NOT due to comments on "Linux forums".

I have one of my computers at the museum where I am a volunteer, it runs W7 64 hp. It is a socket 939 with an Athlon 64 4800+, 4gb ram and is plenty fast enough for storing pics of restoration projects and use on the internet. I thought about upgrading to 10, but the processor is not compatible with W10. I deleted the annoying reminder and hid the next one before installation. Now it's back, or one like it, still telling me that the pc won't upgrade. I suppose I'm lucky that that pc can't be upgraded by stealth.

Agree. Although there are good and bad experiences and what not, the fact of not being able to stuck on a OS if you want, is just far from being free or democratic. I mean, ok... we get it: Windows 10 is amazing. But what if someone just wants to have 7 because is what he or she wants?

Let the people decide, don't force them, and you'll be better.
