Windows 10: Microsoft Store Auto-Updates Not Working

All three of my kids have identical Asus gaming laptops. One of the laptops refuses to do auto-updates from the Microsoft Store for all the installed games and apps. The other two laptops auto-update just fine. All three are configured identically, but the one refuses to auto-update for some reason. Manual updates work fine. I have checked the settings numerous times and auto-update is selected on that laptop. I have repaired/reset the MS Store app settings a few times and that did nothing.

Are there any other other options to try to get auto-updates working? The main issue is that when the one laptop won't auto-update and the kids are playing Minecraft, the one that doesn't update can't join any multiplayer sessions with the other two that update to the latest versions of Minecraft as soon as they are released.

Do let us know the exact issue you are facing in accessing the Windows Store?

Have you tried to reset the Windows Store as stated in the above response?

If the issue still persists after deploying the above troubleshooting steps, try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter
and check.

Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, troubleshoots problems that may prevent Windows Store Apps from working correctly.

1. Press
Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on Control Panel.

2. In the
Control Panel window, select Category and then select
Large icons.

3. Click on
Troubleshooting.

4. Click
View all and then click Windows Store Apps.

5. Click
Next and follow on-screen instructions.

Step 2: I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Microsoft Store not auto updating apps

Have you used this simple step to update the apps:

Turn on automatic app updates

1. Select the Start screen, then select Microsoft Store.
2. In Microsoft Store at the upper right, select the account menu (the three dots) and then select Settings.
3. Under App updates, set Update apps automatically to On.

 

Microsoft Auto-Updates Components of Windows Without User Permission

The nine files that are updated all have to do with the Auto-Updater itself.
The article lists them all. No big deal.

I run auto-update anyway, so BRING ON THE NEW UPDATES !!!
I have yet to experience any problems from MS updates on my XP network.
