Microsoft Store is finally getting a fix for error 0x800B0100 on Windows 10

There are quite a few factors that could possibly affect the Microsoft Store (formerly known as Windows Store). We’ve all experienced a Windows Store problem at some point but if you’ve recently experienced a Microsoft Store error 0x800B0100 message when downloading apps, we finally have the solutions.

A couple of days ago, some users revealed that Microsoft Store is throwing 0x800B0100 error when downloading apps. On Thursday, developer Rudy Huyn confirmed that Microsoft Store is indeed showing error 0x800B0100 when downloading certain apps and games.

“A lot of apps have been having this issue since Friday. If you can’t download an app in the Store and receive the 0x800B0100 error code, it’s a bug related to the Microsoft Store app, close it and run WSRESET.exe, it will clean the Store local cache and fix your issue,” Rudy explained in a tweet on Thursday.

“UWP developers, if your application was not downloadable (0x800b0100), good news, first, you did nothing wrong, it was a bug related to the Store. Microsoft fixed the issue and automatically generated a new package of your app (ending with .1000 or .1070),” he said in a follow-up tweet.

According to Rudy, Microsoft has today deployed a fix to address error 0x800B0100 on Store and you can now download apps and games on your PC once again. You can open the Store and you will notice that the app updates ending with version .1000 are available for download.

It looks like Microsoft has generated a new update (package) for affected apps to replace the faulty packages that were generated during the last few days.

Here’s what you can do if you’re still facing the Microsoft Store outage.

Fix Windows 10 Store error 0x800B0100 when downloading apps

    • You need to open Windows Run (W+R) and type WSReset.exe in the run dialog.
    • This command will reset your Microsoft Store (Windows Store).

    • Keep in mind that resetting Store won’t change the account settings or delete the installed apps data.

failed to install update Error code: (0x800b0100)

I completed the suggested steps. It does not resolve the issue that i am facing. Windows defender is giving error code 0x800b0100. I cannot get into the store to complete those updates either. Windows update says the device is up to date.

    Any other suggestio s?
