    I have tried both of these steps already and still, when I click "Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead," nothing happens, I believe this can be seen in the video I posted. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

    I had the same problem after upgrading from Windows7. I managed to solve the problem by adding a new user account manually with cmd.

    Run cmd as administrator and use the following commands:

    net user /add useraccountname mypassword

    net localgroup administrators useraccountname /add

    net share concfg*C:\\/grant:useraccountname,full

    net user useraccountname

    Now there's a new user account created with the name: "useraccountname" and password: "mypassword".
    For me it was possible to switch to the new account and in the new account I was able to sign in to my Microsoft account.

    Unfortunately, the command: net share concfg*C:\\/grant:useraccountname,full did not work for me and I could not figure out what else to try. What I was able to do with this fix was create another user account. I logged into that account hoping that the problems would be fixed. Unfortunately even on that account, I had the same problems that I am having on this one.

    I have ran into this issue as well, it seems this is a bug for those that upgraded from windows 7 from what I have gather so far. From having searched all over different sites there does not seem to be any type of known fix for this at all. Other then not being able to use the features Microsoft is touting and makes windows 10 great can't be used at all. That said the upgrade went perfectly fine for me and Windows 10 has been great other then this annoying bug.

    So this is a known bug with previously Windows 7 users? Hopefully that means there is an update on its way to fix it because I have seen my friend use Cortana (he had Windows 8.1) and I really want to try it out now, but can't *cry I also want to download some new apps from the app store too.

    Well I can't say it's for sure that that specifically, but doing my research for the last day or so having this issue, I came to that conclusion.

    I can confirm that resetting your computer solves the problem. Of course, this is a time consuming process but if you deem it worth the time, it does work.

    What do you mean by resetting? If by going into recovery mode and resetting my PC, then Yea, I did that, a few times at that. It did not change a single thing.

    Yes, I meant recovery mode. You did that and it didn't work? Did you reset by having it remove all of your apps? I did that, and it worked for me afterwards. Maybe you need a complete reinstall then, its annoying to have to backup and replace everything, but it may work.

    This is probably a better idea than a complete reinstall. I am impatient so I went ahead and did it, but Microsoft might come out with an update in a few days that will solve this problem.

    It did for me, I didn't even need a complete reinstall, just a reset while keeping personal files. Though this worked for me it appears that it hasn't worked for others.
