Windows 10: Microsoft Store opens and immediately closes

I've followed and tried many of the more popular suggestions on this issue but to no avail. However, I have been able to narrow down that the problem fixes if I create a new user on the PC but, as soon as I sign in with a specific email my most important one Microsoft account everything stops working.


What doesn't work:
- all the suggestions on this other related forum post did not work for me: link to the forum

- changing emails on a user that had already been linked to the specific email did not work for me.


What kinda works:
- creating a new local user and signing in with an email other than that specific email



The problem only arises as soon as the specific email signs in.

Any help is appreciated.

Microsoft App Store opens up and immediately closes.

I have tried everything you suggested and still cannot get the Microsoft Store app to work on my laptop. It opens for about 2 to 3 seconds and immediately closes. I have reinstalled Windows 10. I have tried going back to an earlier version of Windows
10. I have done multiple resets of the Microsoft Store app. I have rebooted my computer over a dozen times. None of this has helped. When I go into Settings and open Apps & Features, I can see the listing for the Microsoft Store app. It is showing that
the size of this app is 16.0 KB. Does this sound right? I would think an app like this would be much larger. I checked the size of the same app on my desk top computer and it is showing the size of the Microsoft Store app to be 1.6 MB. It looks like the
app is not installed correctly on my lap top. Is there a way to reinstall just the Microsoft Store app? Thanks again for your help.

I have tried this before and I tried it again now, exactly as you said and the problem still persists.

I went and attempted to open store, it flashes and closes immediately.

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today. I understand you have a problem with Microsoft Store not working. Did you made any changes recently? When was the last time it's working properly?

**Run the troubleshooter:

Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.

**Check the Microsoft Store Install Service

Press the Windows Key + S and type in services.msc.

Find the Microsoft Store Install Service and double click, If the status is Running, click Restart

If Disabled, change it to Automatic, click Start and click OK.

Uninstall the Store:

Press Windows key + X

Click and Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator

copy paste the command below then press Enter

get-appxpackage *WindowsStore* | remove-appxpackage

After that, proceed to reinstall Store

Reinstall the Store:

Press Windows key + X

Click and Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator

At the command prompt, copy-paste the following then hit Enter:

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Launch again your MS Store

If doesn't work, Please proceed with the method below.

1. Press WIN+R to open Run then type: %appdata%

On the address bar, Click AppData > Local > Packages

2. In there look for the folder Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe and renamed it to Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe.old

If a pop-up dialog box appeared preventing you to rename the folder don't close it yet, Open Task Manager then find Microsoft Store on the list. Right click then End Task then immediately press Try Again on the dialog box.

Proceed to Reinstall the Store via Powershell

Restart your PC then Launch Microsoft Store
