  1. Microsoft Store will not launch, along with other apps like Calculator

    I am running Windows 10 and had to reinstall it which I've now done 3 times. The Microsoft Store app will not launch. I can see the app on the start page, but when I click on it or try to use the "open" button, nothing happens. I also have tried to launch the calculator that comes with Windows and that will not launch either. I have tried many recommended solutions, including:

    • The troubleshooter app for Store reports no issues to be fixed;
    • Running the WSReste.EXE to clean out cache it runs but no errors returned;
    • Have reset and terminated in the programs module, with no effect;
    • Have used Powershell to reinstall/re-register the app;
    • And reinstalled three different times, and immediately following the install, before doing anything else, tested Store with same result.
    • Ran SFC /Scannow which runs normally.
    • Ran chkdsk /f also no issues runs on a Samsung EVO.

    Am at wits end. I am starting to think there's a virus somewhere, but have done a full scan with McAfee which turned up nothing.

    I know there is some connection to my Windows signon; I have signed in with two different accounts, including the one that worked fine before all this nonsense started.

    I need some alternative suggestions or other routes to pursue... I don't know where else to go.

    At this point, I have version 10.0.19041 installed Pro.

    All help appreciated!

    :)

    Window's 10 Calculator won't launch

    Hi Dan,

    There could be a number of factors as to why you are having issues launching the Calculator app on Windows 10. This could be caused by a software conflict or due to the application itself.

    You may consider resetting the Calculator app. To do this, refer to the steps below:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & feature.
    • Click the Calculator app from the list and then choose Advanced options.
    • Click Reset.

    If the issue persists, I suggest that you create a new user account. This is for us to check if the issue is due to a corrupted user profile. To do this, select the Start button, then select
    Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.

    Let us know how it goes and we'll assist you further if needed.
