Windows 10: Microsoft Store will not update or download apps

    Microsoft Store will not update or download apps


    I purchased a PC on eBay which has Windows 10 Pro x64 1803 operating system. The Microsoft store will not update any apps, or install new apps. When I try, the app seems to be downloading briefly, then gives an error message:

    "Something unexpected happened. Reporting this problem will help us understand it better. You can wait a bit and try again or restart your device. That may help. Code: 0x80073CFE"

    There is no problem with normal Windows Update. I did report the problem to Microsoft, but found that it has been reported by others. I have searched on the web and tried several solutions but nothing has changed.

    Is there anything you can help with?

    Otherwise the PC works fine.

    if you wish to download the troubleshooter.

    In case that the troubleshooter didn’t help on this matter, we suggest that you reset the Microsoft Store. Kindly follow the steps:

    • Press Windows + R keys to run the command box.
    • Type WSReset, then try downloading the app again.

    I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
