Windows 10: MICROSOFT STORE

Hi,

My new pc is running Windows 10 and works perfectly. But one day I had one unexplained crash.

When I logged back in, everything was fine except that I noticed that the shortcut to Windows store was missing and that I could not access Windows store anymore.

I thought that it was not a big deal and that it should be easy to reinstall. But no it wasn't.

I searched the net and found different ways to reinstall it, I tried all of them at least twice and even some that seemed a bit bizarre but none of them worked.

It started to intrigue me despite the fact that I can live without Windows store, it became a challenge.

As a last resort I decided to contact the Microsoft helpline, their reply was no problem we will sort it out.

A Microsoft tech took control of my pc and I could see him trying the procedures I had already tried and he ended up like me with no success.

He told me the last solution is to reinstall Windows 10 and that it would not affect my files. I agreed and he downloaded a new Windows 10 version on my pc, all I had to do was to go through the process of reinstall myself.

It took quite a few hours but worked, except for the fact that the Windows store shortcut was still not there, and I still cannot access the store.

So at this stage I gave up, but why is it so difficult to reinstall this thing ? And is anybody in my situation ?

App store and Microsoft account

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store

Hi James,

To resolve your concern about Windows Store, we suggest for you to follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + R key to open Run.
• Type wsreset.exe and press
  Enter.
• Restart the PC, sign in with your Microsoft user account and check if you are able to find Windows Store.

Do let us know the exact issue you are facing in accessing the Windows Store?

Have you tried to reset the Windows Store as stated in the above response?

If the issue still persists after deploying the above troubleshooting steps, try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter
and check.

Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, troubleshoots problems that may prevent Windows Store Apps from working correctly.

1. Press
Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on Control Panel.

2. In the
Control Panel window, select Category and then select
Large icons.

3. Click on
Troubleshooting.

4. Click
View all and then click Windows Store Apps.

5. Click
Next and follow on-screen instructions.

Step 2: I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.
