My computer HP Pavilion notebook running Windows 10 wasn't showing a hotspot I created. Support had me delete the Microsoft Wifi-Direct Local Area Connection[5] adaptor and told me it would repopulate upon reboot. It has not come back. I've checked Device Manager<Network Adapters<Hidden Devices and it's nowhere to be found. I checked the HP website and had it check my drivers and it said all my drivers are up to date but nothing about the missing adaptor. My computer is up to date on all Windows Updates, including optional ones. I can't find anywhere to download what su

Local Area Connection showing unnecessarily showing.

    Hi Jyotirmay ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In that case, I would recommend you to delete the old LAN (Local Area Network) connection:

    1. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel."
    2. Click "Network and Internet." Then select "Network and Sharing Center."
    3. Then click on Network adaptors.
    4. Then right click on the LAN connection you are not using and delete it.

    Hope it helps.

"Local Area Connection Connected" But I Don't Have One

    Hello and thanks in advance.

When I click on the WiFi Network icon on the bottom right of my Windows 10 PC, I get a list of all WiFi networks in the surrounding area. Above the list it says "Local Area Connection" and it says that it is "Connected".

This happened a few days ago. I don't have any local area connection, I only use WiFi. I don't use Ethernet cables or anything. In fact, when I go to the Ethernet Settings on my PC, I am told that the Ethernet is Not connected but that the Local Area Connection
    is Connected.

Can anyone offer any insight and/or solutions?

    Thank you for reading.

Missing field Connect using in Local Area Connection Properties

Have you tried uninstalling the Network Adapter? Since there is no properties in the Local Area Connection, we suggest that you uninstall the Network Adapter. Follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows Key + R.
    • Type devmgmt.msc.
    • Right click on the Network Adapter.
    • Select Uninstall.
    • Select Ok.
    • Select Scan for Hardware changes.
    Update us on the results.
