Windows 10: Microsoft Ultimate Word Games doesn't link to my game data

On my Windows 10 machine, Microsoft Ultimate Word Games (MUWG) has stopped linking to my game data. When I start up the game, I'm presented with two stored versions of my data, both dated 15 July. When I choose the cloud version, MUWG "grinds" for about 30 seconds, then gives me a message: "Sorry, we can't to the cloud right now. Please try later." To play the game at all, I have to turn off cloud sharing.I've uninstalled and reinstalled MUWG, run the Windows store app troubleshooter and reset MUWG , all to no avail. I don't have this problem with MS Minesweeper, MS Mahjon and MS Solitaire. I've posted on the Feedback hub (several days ago), but have heard nothing. Has anyone else run into this situation, and if so, how did you resolve the problem? Many thanks.
