    Microsoft VPN settings and security protocol


    Hi. I was able to successfully connect to a VPN I set up a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm unable to connect to it. I noticed that when I change the authentication settings to username and password and I go to the security protocol it needs to allow PAP, the allow protocol button is unticked. Now when I chose to allow the PAP, save the settings and try to reconnect, the authentication setting reverts to general authentication instead of the username and password. So I change it back to username and password, then the allow PAP protocol grays out again and I need to click it back on. What seems to be the problem? It seems like the settings I've been selecting are not sticking. Thank you.

    I am not an expert about Vpn and that's why I would like to know if someone could list me a few trusted Vpns, I would really appreciate any suggestion/ advice.

    VPN Protocol Settings

    I have several users with the same issue.

    I have an L2TP VPN set up to a meraki mx64 which allows the connections fine after a day or two some times a week or two the protocol setting of PAP is removed and the protocol is set to CHAP.

    I have to manually keep going in to the VPN config to switch back, what is doing this in Win10 so I can switch it off.
