Windows 10: Microsoft Windows 10

Windows 10 DISABLED my 70 Disks. Including some MS Programs! While the transition for 16 bit to 32 bit was almost seamless, the transition for 32 bit to 64 was HORRIBLE! I have some 70 CD disks that will not run on Windows 10! What am to do? pay over $1000 for new versions of the Programs? If any are available! For example found I purchased several label programs and was unsatisfied, the didn't meet my needs and ditched, until I found one, "Labels Unlimited" which met all my needs. but Labels Unlimted will not run on Windows and I can't find a comparable product!


So I had Oracle Virtual box installed. THEN I could install my programs including Norton File Manage, instead of the dreaded misfunctioning window 10 File Explorer. But Windows update took it out. I no longer function error in opening, a command line error. Even after uninstalling it and reinstalling in TWICE, if gives the same error.


I now have to use my old laptop, an HP Pavilion zv5000 a 133 meg processer the Windows XP the last Great OS for some of these programs! It SLOW but I WORKS!!!!!


Preparing for a computer my old desktop died I purchase 2 separate certified copy of MS Office XP Proffesional. and installed them on Windows 10. I like the program, unlike the current Office Professional. which s hard to use, and move menus around, and is a subscription. Office XP did install although its some glitchy. I NEVER installed Text Bridge but I think one of the updates caused it partially install, so I have this annoying window the comes up every time I open up Excel.


I will be forced to buy a 3 computer, with Windows XP on it, for about $2000.

Microsoft Selects Dolby Audio for Windows 10

it would've been great if microsoft added HEVC decoders, LAV filters along with other codecs with Windows 10, and developing WMP to be better than VLC, KMPlayer and such sorts of media players.

Nevertheless, this is good step for microsoft, by far.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
