Windows 10: Microsoft Word Dictate

Please help! I was able to use Dictate feature in the past now I get a message that says

"To use Dictation, you need internet connection. Please make sure your connection is working"

I have uninstalled and re-installed the program and it is still not working. Microsoft does not have a place for me to contact them.

Dictation - Random Capitilization

Hi TFLJ,

It's possible that Dictation listens and analyzes your words in phrases or context clues. It is important to state the word clearly.

By the way, since when did this behavior start? Have you made any changes or installed any updates on your computer before this issue?

In order for us to sort this out, I suggest setting the Dictation to make all the letters in a word lowercase. Once this is enabled, try dictating again and see if it still randomly capitalizes letters or words.

If the issue persists, then it is best that you train again your PC to recognize your speech. Follow these steps:

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Click Ease of Access > Speech Recognition.
3. Under Configure your Speech Recognition experience, click the link Train your computer to better understand you option.
4. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Improving the accuracy of Dictate with Microsoft Words

I'm planning to use Dictate in Italian with Microsoft Word for a simple data classification task. I have a few hundred of items to classify based on a few categories and I would like dictate the description of each item with its numerical identifier. Therefore
Dictate should be able to identify in a reliable way a defined set of acronyms, of numbers and of about one hundred words.

May I expect theatDictate improves its accuracy when I submit to it the same words? If not, is there any way to provide Dictate some sort of dictionary with the used words or to train Dictate for my specific purposes?

P.S. Please not tha I cannot use Windows 10 Speech recognition since it currently doesn't support Italian.

 

Dictation not working.

Please provide some additional information, so that we can assist you better.

1. Are you using dictation in Windows or Office application?
   
2. Since when are you facing this issue?
   
3. Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue started?
   

I suggest you to follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: To dictate text:

1. Open Speech Recognition by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking Windows Speech Recognition.

2. Say "start listening" or click the Microphone button to start the listening mode.

3. Open the program you want to use or select the text box you want to dictate text into.

4. Say the text that you want dictate.
