Windows 10: Minecraft Account swap

So from what I have read on the forums here, since I didn't buy Minecraft 3 years ago, I now have to buy the game again using Microsoft? I can't even log into my Mojang account because it has been completely "migrated" to Microsoft. It's like my previous account was deleted because the file no longer exists? That seems so ridiculous. I'd think that Microsoft would still allow my purchase be valid, but apparently it never happened.

It looks as if the existing minecraft server will use the new system without modification - It needs to be able to access the computers on the network in a two way link, which is the standard for Workgroup and Homegroup
